Lawn aeration is the process of mechanically removing soil plugs and small portions of thatch from the lawn. Lawn aeration relieves soil compaction and improves the ability of roots to grow deeper into the soil and expand. The mechanical removal of soil plugs is generally recognized as the best way to improve air and gas exchange, along with water and fertilizer intake.

Things to do before your lawn aeration.
1. If you have a sprinkler system, mark any sprinkler heads that are 8” or more from the
edges to avoid damage from the aerator tins
2. Water your lawn the night before your aeration. The soil should be moist but not wet
4. Scooping up doggy pooh is always appreciated !
Things to do after your lawn aeration.
1. Apply your fertilizer. (if not already done)
2. If lawn needs grass seed then after a lawn aeration is a good time to apply seed
3. Water more then normal over the next week.
Questions and answers
Q: Do I need to mark all my sprinkler heads and how do I mark them
A: My machine will not get within 8” of the parameter of your yard, so sprinkler heads
on the edges “usually” do not need to be flagged, just heads in the middle of the
yard. I will immediately replace any head that I damage that has been clearly
marked but will not be responsible for sprinkler heads that are not clearly marked.
If you do not have flags then you can use yard toys, rocks sticks, etc, or point them
out to me when I get there
For repeat customers I will leave you as many free flags as needed to have on hand
for your next lawn aeration.
Q Do I need to be home at the time of the lawn aeration
A: No, as long as I have clear access to the areas you would like service done and
you put in any dogs that may not like my presence there. You can also let me know
ahead of time or leave me a note with special instructions.
Q: If I am not there then how can I Pay you.
A: Billing is available for repeat Turf Surfer Customers. If you are a new customer
I would prefer that you leave me some money, in a door, milk box, under door mat
etc. Once I have you in my billing database then billing will be available for all future
services.
